Growing up, I wanted to become a journalist. However, now that I'm older I've changed directions, but I still like to write journalistic articles. I have included a sample of a feature article written for the Georgia Writer's Association​.

​Poetry

I have a strong background in African American literature. I hope to give back back to this community by preserving the stories of my family through my poetry. I believe it is important to know the past of my people and to understand the historical background of the U.S. in the development of the African American culture. But more than that, I speak to the human experience, which surpasses labels given to people. I am greatly influenced by Langston Hughes and I have included poetry inspired by his works, as well as two samples of social issue poems I've written.
